Donna Summer – I Feel Love

I Should’ve Known I was Gay
“I Feel Love” -Donna Summer

Guys, no joke, three days ago I was thinking about writing an entry over Donna Summer’s “I. Feel Love.”

My mother has an amazing record collection and among it is Summer’s I Remember Yesterday album. When I first heard “I Feel Love” I was instantly hooked. Seriously. I was probably five years old.

I would bust out in the middle of our living room and just dance until I was tired.
I went through a phase my sophomore year of high school where I would just listen to disco music, and Summer’s “I Feel Love” was my favorite. I would have it on repeat for weeks! I would lock myself in my room and sing along out loud, trying to hit each high note until one of my family members would bang on my door and tell me to shut up.

To me the song is nirvana. The first of it’s kind (what we would now acknowledge as techno). And as I type this while listening to the song, I find myself being that five year old again, wanting to dance in the middle of my living room without caring who sees.

R.I.P. Donna Summer’s. Your music was literally one of my first favorites! One of the reasons I started loving music.
Thank you for that.

Luis Miguel – No Se Tu

Happy Mother’s Day
“No Se Tu” -Luis Miguel

My mom’s always had a huge crush on Luis Miguel. She always tells me that he’s my father and explains to me different circumstances why he won’t acknowledge me or why their relationship simply didn’t work out.

When I was registering for high school, she wrote down on the application that Luis Miguel was my father. She was kidding of course and we had to redo the whole thing. My mom of course is being silly and we always have a good laugh, however, my dads reactions are a whole lot funnier. He gets really jealous and upset.

As a kid I remember hearing this song every Saturday morning when my mother would clean the house. She’d sing along and whistle the beat to herself. Whenever I hear Luis Miguel or Lupita D’Alessio (another singer she admires) I can always smell some Pine-Sol.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you guys seeing it’s mother’s day. Hope you guys had a good one.

You can kind of see them but there you have them folks. Calle 13!

RIP: Adam “MCA” Yauch, at 47: Adam “MCA” Yauch, who co-founded pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys with Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz in 1979, has died. He was 47.
Yauch had been in treatment for cancer since 2009, when doctors discovered a tumor in his salivary gland.
Earlier this year, Yauch posted this on the band’s website:

Hello My Friends While I’m grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated. I’m continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.

In addition to the Beastie Boys, Yauch was heavily involved in the Free Tibet movement and co-organized the Tibetan Freedom Concerts in the ’90s. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
